Open office hours tonight!

I’m so excited that it’s that time again — I adore spending time talking to people on the phone.

Over the past few sessions, I’ve talked to people about how to shape their job materials, helped them start thinking about a new direction for their careers, and listened while people told me stories that were both funny and tragic about their lives in the world of academe. I’d love to talk to you!

So if you’ve got a question, a dilemma, a frustration, something to celebrate, or something to vent about, call me tonight during Open Office Hours!

7:00 – 8:30 pm ET

(301) 927-0083

Talk to you then!

This is not the most topically relevant place to post this link, but hey, it’s the most recent. Assures readership.

What an inspiration and example for the “you don’t need a PhD to be successful nor are you a failure if you quit” conversation.

I just landed a two year appointment after being in the market for two years following a one year appointment (did you get that?)

But that neither guarantees a position later nor, frankly, does it mean I will continue to pursue an academic career. Shh. Don’t tell my institution that right now.

  • Sandra — what a great link! I’ll add her to my fabulous ex-academics list.

Do you have a link to the ex academic list? I searched for it on the website but couldn’t find it! Thank you…Sandra

Julie, is there a place I can post “ex academic profiles” without further disorganizing your blog.

Barbara Kingsolver is another great example…

  • Hey Sandra! I’m working on a page for this, but it’s not quite done. If you send me links (julie@escapetheivorytower.com) I’ll certainly include them!

And thanks for passing them along!
