I’m no longer coaching, but I wish you all the best in your escape journey!

Is academia making you miserable?

Are you becoming restless, depressed, apathetic, or cynical? Are you struggling to find a job or finish your degree? Is your teaching feeling rote? Have you lost your enthusiasm for research? Are you resenting your students, your colleagues, your institution, or your discipline?

If so, it’s time to escape the ivory tower.

That may mean leaving academia and finding another career you can be as passionate, idealistic, and excited about as you once were about your work.

It may simply mean learning to let go of some of the myths of academia so that you can stop throwing yourself against what you think it should be and embrace what is — even while you make change.

Whatever you need, whatever you choose, I wish you peace, passion, and joy.
